It's important to know TOP Instagram tips for restaurants. As a business, how do you stand out in the crowd? There are millions of food photos on Instagram, some dishes from world-renowned chefs can be found under various keywords such as #chef, #dining, #foodporn, #finedining and more.
Let’s be honest; there are a lot of images on Instagram, especially when it comes to food. Regardless of this, small family restaurants to larger food chains can benefit from this social media platform.
One of my favorite Instagram tips for restaurants is to create a restaurant specific hashtag!
An easy way for a chance to set yourself apart is by creating unique hashtags that are relevant to your industry and restaurant. Let’s use a fictional restaurant chain called Chef Chowder. A chain of 10 restaurants across California, some locations are performing better than others, and you want a chance to be one of the top performing locations.
There is already a hashtag in use #chefchowder, but you would like to create a new one unique to your area. Let’s pretend you are in South California; you could use #scchefchowder. You can now use this hashtag to promote various promotions, giveaways, offer visitors the chance to win a free appetizer if they tag their selfie with #scchefchowder.
Think of social media as customer service, over time, these great photos shown under this particular restaurant hashtag will draw curiosity and help a potential visitor in his/her buyer’s journey when deciding where to eat. Now, more than ever individuals not only look at online reviews before visiting a restaurant but also look at their engagement and presence on social media.
Celebrate your team.
Probably the most important out of the Instagram tips for restaurants. I would hope that you do this with or without social media, but celebrating your team is an excellent way to promote your business. When your team is happy and given recognition, this will reflect in their work and efforts that they put in. A simple way to recognize your team on social media is by posting some of the feedback received from customers while visiting your restaurant.
Collect the comment cards, or make sure that you make a quick note of the comments received verbally, you can also use some of the reviews you have received on social media. Collect this feedback and create a month-long campaign aimed at recognition. You can use a photo editor app such as Canva or Word Swag to create these graphics. Post one or two per day or whatever fits into your content calendar.
Introduce your team.
From time to time, with your employee's consent, add them to your following. You can do this in the form of group photos or individual photos, let your audience know how long they have been working for your establishment and what their vital role within the team is.
Have a feedback post.
Every business and restaurant using Instagram should have a feedback post. You can create a simple feedback text image using one of the apps previously mentioned. You then, in turn, ask for visitors to leave some feedback regarding their experience. If a potential customer stumbles upon your account and sees customers actively posting feedback, this will get them one step closer to visiting your store once they see these great reviews. Do not delete negative comments received, address these concerns in the same manner as you would if someone came it to your restaurant and asked to speak with you. Also, ensure that you respond to the comments thanking everyone for the time they took to write the reviews.
Show us some clips.
Instagram Story is a powerful tool to promote your business, promotions and upcoming events. Share live clips of the chefs in action, a clip of your bartenders in action, a group of friends celebrating their birthdays. Of course, all with the consent of your staff or parties involved.
